Yahoo! peaked at $445 and up $103. Well, that WAS a rocket ride!
[Amazon up a mere 15%]

Q! up nearly $2 to $62. Not quite the same. But at least Q! finished on the high whereas Yahoo! dropped a chunk. One day, people will realize that owning the WWeb access is not a bad thing to do. Anyone can provide content.

The Web is wired for now. This year it will start to cut loose. When it does, Q! the funnel web spider will have spun an extensive and all consuming WWeb [TM].

Mquarkice.

Q! Quarks, DNA, CDMA and consciousness.

Q! and U! together the world.

New handsets shown at Consumer Electronics Show (Las Vegas)...
rcrnews.com

Mot's new handset is very similar in size but slightly thicker than the Nokia 6xxx series handsets with a flip-down cover (a-la microtac). Mot StarTac CDMA handset features the same display as their SC7XX handset.

No one had handsets set up so that you could make phonecalls like they did last year. Mot must have gotten killed by their phonebill last year.

Look for new handsets from Sanyo and Samsung that offer the same features as the QCP2700 with a "digital by Qualcomm" sticker on the back. Qualcomm did not have a booth this year. But, Globalstar/Airtouch did. Those handsets are available in blue, yellow, green, red, and black. Noticeably smaller than the Irridium offerings.

Not a peep from anyone about Bluetooth products. Everyone was too busy showing their UniversalSerialBus and FireWire/IEEE1394 products. 1394 (Sony calls it I-link) appears to be the method of connecting an HDTV tuner/decompressor box to the decoder built inside the display. An entire pavilion area was set up to show the connectivity of 1394. Leviton (known for its electrical outlets and other home wiring products) showed the ability to link up an entire house worth of electronics to 1394 wiring with data speeds up to 800MB/sec. Hook your PC or Mac, printer, scanner, camcorder, VCR, TV, home lighting and security products, computer, everything into 1394. Fiber repeaters and LCD touch screen controllers are available this summer.

More later (as soon as I recover enough energy to get the literature back out of the car.)
