EBay short- I went short EBay today. The volume is low and it seems to be unable to put together any momentum since its big one day pop. At $11.5 billion, I think this is the ripest of the internets. It's also too expensive for a buyout. Other auction companies are improving their sites; while EBay's is the best it is very slow (I've been using it). If any of the first or second tier companies get interested, watch out. In a few weeks there will be a HUGE share unlock, at least 25 million shares, about the same time Greenspan testifies before Congress. The only wildcard besides internutmania is earnings, though in their filings they say that the Xmas quarter is traditionally slower.

On a more thoughtful note, the 5 CMGI calls I bought for $8K and sold for $7K a few days later are now worth $75K. How many times have I complained about my timing:).

Best,

Timoteo

Mc Nabb,
So you think it is safe to buy Yhoo and make back all the loss shorting nuts just in a couple days. This rise is never before in history and who is the lucky one bail out before the plunge into depression? I think I will buy nuts tomorrow, never before...so you guys can start to short.
Regards,
(but I am scared to death if they plunge after I put my last bet in)
