Well, I am not complaining about ATHM, it has been running lately. But yes, AOL can get bandwidth from a number of places, and not just cable. ATHM has the inside track on cable by establishing partnerships with 15 or so cable companies, but they are only signing up about 5% of cable subscribers. The critical mass is not there yet. What ATHM needs, and if they are smart they will get it, is a partnership with AOL. So that ATHM becomes the access provider, and AOL becomes the content. That gives them 50M eyeballs and all the new ATHM subscribers that comes with that. If they don't want to play, AOL can go after DSL bandwidth with any number of telcos, although DSL is not as mature or clean as cable. Then there is satellite service. MSFT just signed a deal with DISH to provide satellite service, for example. So I'm not worried about bandwidth, to me ATHM is just a hedge in case AOL screws it up.
