The republicans will crash and burn in 2000 in all the major economically powerful states - Ca, NY, Texas, Fla, Wash etc. No sign of that happening outside of goofy Cal. NY is very happy with rep governor and rep NYC mayor, who will likely succeed Moynihan as senator. Texas elected a record number of reps, despite the impeachment hearings and will likely have the presidential favorite son. Fla elected rep gov and other rep congressmen. Don't see any of that doom happening. But, admittedly, it's still early in the game.
