Bullrider,

The article somewhat understates one of the big "gotchas" in the internet business.

While the various websites keep talking about their "advertising" revenues, they conveniently neglect that much of the revenue comes in the form of "banner swapping" with other websites.

In fact, much of the advertising is generated by one money-losing website advertising another. What happens when some of those business no longer have the money with which to advertise? Will conventional ("non-net") advertising take their place? If so, will banner ads be sufficient, or will something else need to come along? And will the current "stars" be the ones to deliver it?
