I like the idea of a no-holds-barred trial too. Whatever the outcome, President Clinton might never hold a public office again, whether or not he's barred from it. The biggest benefit of this exercise is that we would not see Republicans ride the high-horse of "morals" and "character" ever again (unless they want to portray themselves as jokers).

but might help resolve the unfinished 30-year-old culture war that has raged out of control since Mr. Clinton took office.

I doubt that either side would give up, regardless of the outcome of a Senate Proceeding. Time will solve this as the current participants age and the next generation establishes it's own culture.
