Tim & All **** I wish to take exception to the statement "While some analysts suggest that the two companies -- one an older, East Coast firm, the other a young, West Coast one -- could face significant corporate culture clashes," It appears that Lucent wants Ascend primarily for the Core Networking Division, formerly Cascade Communications Corporation. No one even talks about Ascend's Remote Access products ! The former CSCC shop, is indeed an East Coast entity, in Westford Massachusetts,with an East Coast (dare I say "sweat shop") mentality; and as such, should present few "cultural difference problems". BTW I still wonder if Mory would like to run the East Coast division. It seems significant that he chose not to fill the vacancy that was created by Dan Smith's departure. Now who will be bidding for the new Sycamore Networks Corp. (founded by former CSCC principals Dan & Desh) ?? Mardy Mardy.
