Jane, do some DD on CNXT (the Rockwell spinoff) here in Newport Beach.
Conexant supplies 80% of PCS phone chips (see news today), 80% of FAX engines, 90%+ of Video-Capture chips, and 90% of spread-spectrum cordless phone chips. Not to mention all those 56k modems.

DSL is in the works, along with cable modem (see BRCM).
Getting little attention, so far. Check them out.
