<..I was the person who asked Bernie E the ?...>

Pretty funny. I was the guy who asked Seidenberg (BEL) a similar Q.

<..At least publicly he limits its use to resale vs. expressing any ownerhsip interest...>

And Sidgmore plays it even more hardball denying ANY interest (at least in 98) in LL wireless properties. I suspect we may hear a different tune at some point this year. In fact, I have heard from a sell side analyst I respect that Ebbers in fact made some public comments that were "embracing" of ownership of wireless BBLL at the end of last year... IMO anything contrary would be either posturing or fatuitously short-sighted. And we know that Ebbers and Co. is known for the former and distinctly NOT for the latter.

It amazes me as I discussed WCII at dinner with several large (in the $B) buy guys and CSN's presenter how poorly and misunderstood WCII is... like - Did I read the MS report on WCII valuation based on LMDS licenses auction?... garbage stuff like that. Couldn't resist the high inside pitch so played DB and went on for 20+ minutes with a good number of rudimentary questions - I'm sure at least a couple of buyguys will be taking a closer second look. I earned options!

Armstrong, basking in street adoration for his efforts in reinventing T, made making noises in the right direction, but I still think companies like WCOM and now (with WMB end-end) WCII will be eating their BB data. T's fixed wireless soln is at 10MHz at about 256-384 kbps and IP *maybe* in 2001. He DID say if that didn't turn out to be enough (uh, he doesn't know?!?) there was always some LMDS to be had. For a qualifying perspective, T and it's groupies are largely bellheads (both sides - reinvention notwithstanding)) for whom data is what is on a balance sheets.

trans - did you see McCourt's show?
