nihil,

OT: Early retirement, medical insurance and Social Security

I'm one who asked for help on the above. Reason: I've decided to join the ranks of self-employed retirees. I have my resignation letter in my briefcase and, unless I get cold feet, will give it to my boss tomorrow morning.

My need is for practical advice. Like should you continue Social Security payments; how much insurance to carry, etc. I have a pretty good idea of what to do, but it's nice to hear from those that have made the passage before me. Pointers to information will be appreciated.

As for starting a church to shelter income, if would have to be called the church of the unbelievers, else I couldn't live with myself. So, you see, it's quite impossible.

PS. I have a strong belief in the existence of the IRS, and I try very hard not to transgress.
