MileHigh,

I absolutely agree with your assessment. What I wouldn't give right now for a January 1st, 2010 copy of the Wall Street Journal! There IS going to a major paradigm shift in the way people do business and manage their personal lives that involves the Internet, and I have no doubt that I'm going to look back on my life someday (not yet, though, too busy taking care of kids to have any time to reflect) and recognize that I lived in one of the most exciting periods of human history. At least one of the most dynamic.

I wish I could get a better feel for who the Internet winners are going to be. I've ordered from Amazon, but don't use it on a regular basis (I prefer walking the aisles at Super Crown), I cancelled my AOL account, and I did some comparison shopping of Toys R Us and eToys (discovered that the prices were identical, then waited too long to be able to order online before Christmas). As the Sage of Omaha advises, "invest in what you know", and I can't figure out how some of these guys are going to make any real money. Is Yahoo really worth a market cap of, what's it at now, $10B, $20B? Maybe. But it's more enlightened minds than mine that see the possibility for them.

What's the "killer app" in the Internet. Being a Portal? Being a really large catalog equivalent? Do they really build any kind of loyalty? I don't have any loyalty to any particular ecommerce site, except maybe the ones that help me find the best price across all the other sites. Will they move fast enough to stay in business when books and music are downloaded over the Internet rather than just ordered over the Internet?

It's late, I've just come from the San Jose Sharks game (they beat the L.A. Kings 4-0 and stopped an 8 or 9 game winning streak), and I can't believe I'm writing a message this long (actually, another one, since my first one was longer and I learned from that one to keep them short). Milehigh, you should come out to the annual meeting, then join us for lunch. Maybe we can all start an Investment Club together and the collective brilliance of the group could determine who the Internet winners are going to be.

Or we could just put all the money into Rambus.

Good night, all.

Dave B
