All the big cap stocks are push up or down by the institutions, and the individual investors do not have such money. From a statistical point of view, if there is no news, good or bad, the daily trading of the stock between the long and bear will reach equilibrium. It is the newss which push the stock , lower or higher. With the current environment , Intel showed big earnings, and series of new products, Microsoft come to defendence in the DOJ case, split expect, and break recor earning, new product release, all these news will break the equilibrium of the trading patterns of Microsoft, and the direction is up.
