FACT... It's the technology, not the fromage, that counts ...

1999 HOT PRODUCTS Award

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1999--Osicom Technologies, Inc.
(NASDAQ:FIBR), a market leader in Metro DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing),
today announced that its GigaMux(TM) EPC(TM) (Electric Photonic Concentrator) has been
designated one of the 50 winners in the Seventh Annual Data Communications HOT
PRODUCTS competition. Osicom's EPC enables a typical 2.5 Gbps 32-channel Metro
DWDM system to deliver 512 subdivided channels. This allows customer premise
equipment (CPE), such as Fast Ethernet switches and routers, to bypass costly SONET
equipment and connect directly to a DWDM system. Considering that the average
enterprise user today does not require a full 2.5 Gbps connection, Osicom's EPC enables
CLECs and other metro service providers to sell DWDM-based services directly to
corporate customers at much lower costs. This will further accelerate the deployment of
DWDM in the Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN).

The editors of Data Communications scoured the industry for the best, brightest products
and services networking technology. After months of rigorous research, the editors selected
50 winners which boast a key technology differentiator that sets them apart from the
competition. That differentiator results in clear and quantifiable financial benefits, e.g.,
increases productivity, cuts administrative costs, prevents theft, etc. And Data
Communications increase to 50 HOT PRODUCTS awards -- from 40 a year ago indicates
both that networks are becoming more complex and that vendors are getting better at
designing technology that meets a clearly defined need or business case.

Winners were selected in the following categories: IP Tools, Internetworking, WAN Services,
Networks Software, WAN Gear, Security, Network Management/Analysis, LAN Gear and
Carrier-Class Equipment.

"The 'HOT PRODUCTS' award is a significant endorsement of a new product or service's
'promise' in terms of the technological advancement or enhancements it intends to provide
to networking professionals," according to Data Communications editor in chief, Lee
Keough. "Data Communications readers, who design, build and manage the world's largest
networks, recognize and respect the HOT PRODUCTS logo and use its distinction to help
them make critical purchase decisions."

"EPC is a necessity for wide-spread deployment DWDM systems in Metropolitan Area
Networks," explained Osicom president Dr. Xin Cheng, a pioneer in photonic networking.
"The overwhelming majority of all originating corporate data traffic is Ethernet based and
converting it to SONET for transport adds cost, complexity, and latency. EPC eliminates
such costly SONET aggregation equipment and brings DWDM technology closer to the
end-user equipment."

Osicom's executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing Artie Trakas
commented, "We are very pleased that the editors of Data Communications have chosen
EPC as one of the winners of its 1999 HOT PRODUCTS. We are equally excited about the
high-level of interest EPC has generated in the press, as well as among a significant number
of the 77 plus companies currently evaluating our GigaMux product. This interest in EPC
stems from the promise of greater utilization and efficiency of the entire network achieved by
bringing an optical connection down to the individual corporate customer, resulting in
increased potential revenues and lower capital expenditures for telecom service providers."
Trakas added, "The benefits of deploying EPC will help us capture a significant share of the
fast growing metro DWDM market, as well as open up new opportunities for our GigaMux
product."

Founded in 1972 as the world's first networking publication, Data Communications has been
covering the enterprise networking market for over 25 years. Data Communications is part
of the Business Technology Group at CMP Media Inc.

GigaMux Product Family

Osicom's GigaMux line of DWDM transforms a single fiber from a dedicated,
single-application medium into a versatile conduit capable of simultaneously transporting up
to 32 independent optical channels. It increases the total bandwidth of a single fiber from 2.5
Gbps to 80 Gbps. GigaMux supports fault tolerant DWDM rings as well as point-to-point
network configurations. It is protocol transparent and data rate independent in the entire 51
Mbps through 2.5 Gbps range.

GigaMux's breakthrough EPC(TM) optical and electronic sub-rate multiplexing technology
provides 512 sub-channels with direct optical and electrical interfaces to customer premise
equipment and carries voice, video and data traffic. Osicom's Dense Wave Division
Networking (DWDN(TM)) solutions enable direct optical interconnection of high-speed data
and telecom equipment, such as multi-gigabit switches and routers, in campus and
metropolitan area networks (MAN). DWDN removes protocol conversion steps, eliminating
the network latency that is a key barrier to widespread deployment of IP telephony and
real-time voice and video.

I would Auric, but I do not have "connections" like you have. So I'll stick with this 20 bagger. Do let us know when you cover.
