The AppleStore has a history of being the last to receive inventory of new products and first to run out of them. This has been happening on such a consistent basis that it has been quite an useful indicator for investors to gauge supply and channel inventory. (I think this will change in the near future)

VARs and catalog resellers are usually the first ones to get new machines. A couple VARS here in LA just got their first shipment of multi-flavored iMacs today. G3 Pro line as well as some of the new Studio Displays had been available for 3+ days now. Supply of 400MHz machines appears to be extremely good. In the bad old days one often has to wait for 3 weeks before you can get your hands on a top of the line machine after product intro. I saw three retail config of G3/400s at one VAR today. There were quite a few customers as well.

We'll have to monitor how things are going at CompUSA next week. Most CompUSAs should receive shipments of the new machines by this weekend.

Most of these initial units were produced at the Singapore plant. Sac plant has already started producing these new machines as well. I expect Sac to take over most of the responsibility for the US market within the next few weeks.
