Communications(R), Inc. (AFC) (Nasdaq:AFCI) announced today the
shipment of the largest single purchase order in its history during the
third and fourth quarters of 1998.

WinStar Communications, a leading Competitive Local Exchange Carrier
(CLEC), placed the order with AFC during the late third quarter of
1998. AFC completed shipments pursuant to this purchase order in the
fourth quarter of 1998.

AFC's UMC 1000 complements WinStar's strategically orchestrated network
