But the K7 3DNow! is probably truly capable of 4 32-bit ops per clock cycle, where one operand of each of these ops is most likely fetching a vector from memory in a loop. Even its regular FPU is capable two 64 bit ops per clock cycle from what I've read. Don't we need a 128 bit pipe to memory to keep the FPU busy?

Or are you counting on the data being in the L2 cache and a 128 bit path to L2?
