Agreed Eric on most points and well written. However, my Sociology degree from SFU in the early 70's hasn't rendered me completely dependent on government for sustained existence and in IMO prepared me better for the business world than my graduate business degree . My sister, who is a Senior Policy Analyst for the current B.C. cabinet, and I have never really seen eye-to-eye on most issues though political and economic realities have her moving more to the right all the time. N.S is following closely with the "candidate protected lands"... designated with little consultation with the mining industry including the NS govt. geologists! The ignorance of the NIMBY disease is frightening and so to is the power a vocal minority wields over the general population. Last election I was doing a field program and after a 13hr day in the field a PC candidate came to my door. I had one question... about the candidate protected area. The dumb f*^& looking at me in my field gear starts his pre-packaged socialist tirade, after about a minute and-a-half he catches on and said "ahhhhh, that's not the right answer is it?". I proceeded to educate the little bastard and send him back out into the real world ;-) I also voted for an independent.... 1King P.S. I find it tough to vote for a party whose mandate is to prevent me from working!
