Rational Software Corporation Announces Record Revenues and Net Income for Its Third Fiscal Quarter PR Newswire - January 13, 1999 16:16 CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Rational Software Corporation (Nasdaq: RATL)today announced results for the third fiscal quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998. Revenue for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998 was $109,133,000 and $286,760,000 respectively, compared to $82,306,000 and $223,422,000, respectively, for the same periods last year. Net income for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998, including a net reduction of previously accrued merger and integration costs was $17,954,000 and $38,159,000 respectively, compared to net income of $10,368,000 and a net loss of $49,123,000 respectively, for the same periods last year. Excluding the reduction of merger and integration costs and the related tax effect, pro-forma net income for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998 was $17,114,000 and $37,319,000, respectively. Diluted earnings per share for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998, including the impact of a reduction in merger and integration costs, were $0.20 and $0.42, respectively, compared to diluted earnings per share of $0.11 and a loss per share of $0.56 respectively, for the same periods last year. Excluding the impact of the net reduction in merger and integration costs, diluted earnings per share for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 1998 were $0.19 and $0.41, respectively. As a result of the company's July 1997 merger with Pure Atria, accounted for as a pooling-of-interests, the information herein and the accompanying condensed consolidated financial statements are presented on a combined basis for all periods shown.
