Keith,
I read roughly the same thing regarding Greenspan. My take on it was similar to what you posted.

I would be suprised at this. First they bail out LTC, now the fed's gonna tell us what we should be investing in?

Anyone else hear this on CNN? Is it on their web site?

I don't wish to insult anyone but it is a total load of crap that anyone knows what AG is going to say 8 DAYS IN ADVANCE!!! Come on!

Now, I actually agree that he should do this. He can even say that "someday, the growth of the internet may cause current speculations to look like bargain opportunities, but in the meanwhile, we have the responsibility to protect the economy from the potential damage that could be caused by a sudden drop in these widely held equities, and we feel it would be prudent at this time to increase the margin requirements for these particular issues..."

It would have a small effect, and would limit the damage of the bursting balloon.
