Unfortunately the information available from any "research/consulting" group is never free. In fact, some of these reports were $4000 and up!

While I would love to know the extact numbers or even ballpark educated estimates, I don't think posting that information here would be the wisest thing to do :)

But, I'm very curious to know several things about server statistics in many corporations:

a) Of all new server installations, was there a server "retired"? If so, which OS was installed and why the move to the new server?

If not, then the new server an addition to an existing network -- what is the new server's purpose(s)?

b) Of all migrations from NetWare to NT, what was the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for that fiscal year per server?

c) In all decisions (line of business), is the focus on "business alliances" or the best product for the purpose?
