Compaq, World's Largest PC Manufacturer Incorporates Yamaha XG
Software Wavetable Synthesizer

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1999--Compaq Computer Corporation [NYSE:CPQ -
news], the largest global supplier of computer systems, has signed a licensing agreement with Yamaha
Systems Technology Inc. to incorporate Yamaha's high performance XG software wavetable
synthesizer, the Yamaha S-YXG50 as standard on their Presario computers. The S-YXG50 features XG

Disklavierâ„¢ electro-acoustic pianos, tone generators and professional musical instruments. Today,
many popular artists, web sites, music publishers, music developers and game developers support the
XG MIDI format.''
