U.S. TRADING SUMMARY: U.S. stocks fell at Tuesday's open, with
high-flying Internet stocks weaker. At 10:40 a.m. ET, the Dow
Jones industrial average was off 25 points at 9595. The
technology-heavy Nasdaq index dropped 32 points to 2352, while the
S&P 500 fell seven to 1256. Declines led advances by an 8-to-5
margin on the NYSE where volume reached 193 million shares.
Analysts said stocks were being hit by profit-taking, along with
renewed concerns about Brazil's troubled economy. Technology and
Internet-related stocks were weaker amid profit-taking following
recent extraordinary gains. The 30-year Treasury was up 27/32 to
yield 5.25%.
