For CKFR this is great news, all of M&I banks that had BP was through Travelers anyway. No loss to CKFR and the removal of a potentil competitor. So lets ask the question, why would M&I want to own this?

1. Cost, quit paying some one else to service their customers/banks.
2. Control, quality control and development of the product.

I don't believe that M&I really expects to compete with CKFR and Princeton for customers other than M&I banks. M&I is a niche player for smaller and medium size FIs. The same banks that CKFR has been ignoring. The sale just takes a CKFR competitor out of consideration when a large bank is looking at outsourced bill payment.
