I agree with you about LTCM and Clinton. Actually, the LTCM disaster is due to the Russian and emerging market debt crisis. Both 1994 and 1997-1998 have been under Rubin (Clinton) and Greenspan watch. A lot of the high yield bond funds took a big hit last year since their yields were loaded with emerging market debt. Secondarily, is the fast money (that's currently chasing internets) that was chasing emerging markets previously.
