I agree with everyone on this thread that Ciena is a good buyout target at some point, but who's to say that is anytime soon? With the stock being up big on rumors and down just as quickly, it seems to be quite risky. Also, aren't big players like Lucent developing their own technology similar to Ciena's that will be on the market soon? If so, I would think they could crush Ciena, then Ciena would get bought for say $10 or even less, but not $40. Since Ciena's earnings are going to very poor this year, maybe these buyout rumors are the only thing keeping it above its lows of $8 - $10. Someone like a CSCO or TLAB needs motivation to buy Ciena, and although it might be there at some point, I'm not sure its right now. Call me the devil's advocate, but what do you think?
