I don't get anywhere near that service from Schwab.

Marshall, I've placed a market order during fast market conditions once or twice with Schwab. Each time I've been badly screwed. You watch the real time, say it's a buy and the stock's moving up, you can be almost guaranteed that you'll get your fill the moment the demand peaks. I feel as if Schwab is last in line to get their orders filled, or as if they've stamped "small-time grinder" on my order and wait until everyone else has gotten filled. And I'm supposedly in their Active Trader Schwab 500 Circle of Power or whatever they said I was.

Generally Schwab is very good with quick executions and reports on high-volume, evenly balanced stocks. I'll give them that.

But if they've marked a stock or option "fast market conditions," it's just no use to call them. They will treat you rudely and essentially say, "you dumb-ass, you should have known you'd get screwed with a market order on this security." Not that they're wrong, but my other brokerages (Datek and Ameritrade) have both improved trades for me in the past (once a sell on MARG from $16 to $27!). And those trades were all fast-market market orders. So I think it's more a matter of poor customer service policy at Schwab than anything else.
