Hello Gregor,

I believe that you have to say it. A person lying at deaths door who can't speak anymore but forms the confession and asking in his mind I believe is just as saved as the thief on the cross at calvary because we know God judges the heart.
In new Christians I look for a willingness to share what has happened to them with others. A concern for other souls.
I'll share an experience with you to hear your opinion. I can't remember if I've shared this on the threads or not so I may be repeating myself (youth of old age setting in).
Many years ago a friend and I were talking to an elderly gentleman who was a stranger to us. He politely listened and came under tremendous conviction after hearing the gospel. His words are ingrained in my memory, "Boys, I know you're right. I've got one foot in the grave and I know I'm on the way to hell but I just can't ask Him (Jesus to save him)" He'd heard the message of salvation before.
Naturally we ask why but this poor man in tears cannot tell us. My understanding of the situation is that when he attempts to even think about it he is blocked in every thought process. I do not remember wether we asked anyone or especially Father in prayer for wisdom concerning this.
Not much later I saw this man's obituary in the paper.
Some time later I read in one of Rebecca Browns books (Jane & I were discussing them briefly) about similar experiences and a solution.
Only a few years ago I encountered something similar with a lead up to it as well.
I was going through a period of time where I was just not "feeling" God's presence. Not in prayer, in praise, at church, nada, zilch....
most disconcerting but I reminded myself of obedience and that we are not to put store in experiences or signs as the reason for faith. About two lonely weeks went by. Then walking down a hallway at work I was out of the blue flooded with the most tremendous bathing of love that I knew was right from God as though the Holy Spirit had just poured out His presence like a pail of warm milk on my head. I was rejoicing silently and sat down in an office alone.
Moments later a friend who had trained me when I first started on the job came in to say hi. A piece of scripture came to mind after small talk(I don't remember what) that I shared with him and he instantly came under conviction and started to cry. (I obviously had nothing to do with it) We sought out a more private location where he heard the gospel. He'd heard it all before and deja vue, my friend tells me, "I know you're right, but I just can't do it, I can't ask Jesus to save me."
He stated he would get to this point repeatedly and despite his best efforts everything would "shut down".
The following transpired... out loud I rebuked Satan pleading the blood of Christ and commanded him in the name of Jesus to release my friend from the bondage that prevented him from hearing and receiving the gospel.
My friend looked at me like I had three heads.
I ignored what had just been said, briefly mentioned something unrelated then asked him if he would like to ask Jesus to be his saviour now.
He lit up and almost shouted, "Yes!"
So, if I've repeated a lengthy story please forgive me but I do believe there is an importance in the actual asking and the enemy knows it too.
Why were they hindered? I believe something in their past gave Satan legal licence to attack them spiritually, to hold them in bondage.
"Whom the god of this world hath blinded...."
Your opinion for or against my view of these experiences is appreciated.
God bless.
John

Gregor,

Looking at your post again....
I think the third part, confessing with your mouth would appear to be the most difficult for many that I have met.
Why?
True conviction of sin, acknowledging that we are sinners, a.k.a. PRIDE
The thought that we aren't good enough to do it on our own, of our own merit in God's eyes is hard to accept.
God's word, the bible produces conviction of sin upon the person that reads it. Therefore the enemy to combat it encourages it's watering down by producing corrupted versions, and it is ridiculed or outlawed or eliminated or hated. All evident on A.G. postings. Yet God reserves and encourages those that love His word AND SHARE IT.
God bless you throughout the day to come (Lord willing) my friend.
John
