School Board Cancels Father-Son Pancake Breakfast

BERKELEY, CA - This year's 47th Annual Father-Son Pancake Breakfast, which was scheduled for February 27th at Winthrow Elementary School has been canceled. The school board interceded on behalf of single mothers who claim that the event discriminates against them. Said one school board member, "This event was obviously created during a time when women were subjected to male tyranny. This event had to go. We do not want to make single mothers feel uncomfortable or neglected. Nor do we want to encourage boys to spend time with their fathers. This type of event is irresponsible given what we know about men."

Berkeley fathers see things differently and have vowed to hold the annual pancake breakfast regardless of the school board's decision to cancel the event. Said one dad, "If those bureaucrats think they can stop us from having breakfast with our sons, then they have another thing coming. Our local Elks Lodge has offered to donate their facilities so that we can hold the pancake breakfast."

Responding to the news that fathers plan to hold the event at the Elks Lodge one school board member told BAN, "It doesn't surprise us that a sexist organization like the Elks would help these men continue to subvert our society." Another school board member promised, "We will be sending some of our people the event in order to take names of participants. Any boy seen eating pancakes with his father will have it noted in their permanent record."
