I have nothing against Reagan DMA. However I do think his family life was a little sad, but mostly a product of Hollywood is my guess. Nixon and Ford have wonderful families. The funnyest thing is at Berkeley there is this one room little museum about Berkeley in the 60s. Reagan was governor at the time, and the Berkeley students had taken over some of the campus bldgs. The administration had called the governor and the mtg between Reagan and the faculty was televised. The faculty said "we tried to negotiate with the students" Reagan says "NEGOTIATE - WHAT - NEGOTIATE ?? Why on earth are you negotiating with them?". Reagan was totally outraged, the whole broadcast was like that - Reagan didnt know what to do with all the liberals in Berkeley. Truly amusing. I like Reagan because he kept the RR at bay, as did Bush. The Time article was correct in that the republican agenda of values happened after the cold war, thats when they went downhill.
