I'm looking for some other broker than Waterhouse too. Datek, ETrade or Schwab are the only names I know but since I haven't used any of them I don't know their relative merits.

ETrade impressed me with their willingness to give free realtime quotes to the public and their realtime quote site was up today when Waterhouse was having trouble even staying up to take orders so I might move to ETrade. Waterhouse has been irritating me for too long - they wouldn't give me realtime quotes because "the quote bank is only updated in the evening" even though I had just placed trades. I ended up using ETrade's free realtime quotes. Life's too short to deal with incompetence from lowly underlings at service organizations that charge you money to provide bad service!

I'm switching to MBT -sent the app in yesterday. I've heard from quite a few of their clients that the executions are excellent. It amazes me how people moan & whine about their broker being slow/lousy executions, et al, but, dammit, they're only paying 10 bucks commish. Just forget about the 2 Gs in lost profits because, hey, the commish was only 10 stinkin bucks.

I think people need to take another look at their priorities.
