Good News!

Current issue of Investors Digest (Jan 15th) rates the stock a buy! Considers it undervalued - outlines current situation and the results from last quarter. Claims ... once the Eskimo Pie deal is finalized stocks should trade around a 20 times P/E, 12 month target around $10 per share.

Claims company has excellent management. Is in a very favourable cash position and is looking for other acquisitions.

Finally nice to read some positive news on this company from others and to see it considered as a bargain. Now if only some of the fund managers would read the article.

Whitey,

YF downgraded by First Marathon today - from Buy to Market Perform. Donwgraded from Strong Buy to Buy just before last earnings.

Reason was that YF isn't viewed as a top growth franchiser anymore, rather a lower tier grocery products producer (compared to the big boys like Nestle etc.). Also cited is fundamental shift in management control away from the family towards the Integrated top brass. View is that management is positioning the company for eventual sale in 2-3 years. The company is now being valued among the grocery products group which trades at lower multiples. Comparing to similar companies, they put YF's value at about $4.50, a bit higher if they get EPIE. FM feels that the only way shareholders will see more is if YF successfully does another acquisition or two. That will take a while to pan out. Also, the tax rate is expected to increase as focus shifts away from franchising overseas. Overall reason for the downgrade seems to be that management's new foray into a lower margin business is viewed as more risky.

Of course, that's all their opinion, but they've been very right before.

Faith?

It's amazing how paranoid and non-sensical we all get when the
price tanks! In the stock market (As in life) you gotta have
conviction and faith if you want to achieve anything worthwhile.
This is a buying opportunity if there ever was one - let your common
sense rule!

Oh my...you sound like a promoter. Sorry 'bout that last
post. I was just stirring the pot, eh? Looks like a good
buying opp to me too, but I'll wait for some support first.

FWIW, I don't trade on "faith", only technicals.
You'd better hope that $4.20 holds or you're meat my friend.
