Ian,

Merrill Lynch has done a very poor job of forecasting anything chip related, so whether Intel's anticipated cap. ex. is higher than ML's shoddy forecast is meaningless. How does the $3B compare to the number Hodess, Deahna, et al. have in their models? I don't know the answer to that.

Ian and All: INTC cc states that spending for fab equipment in 1999 will be the same as it was in 1998. Focus on .18um transition.
