On the other hand, recall the story of Pandora's box? The gods tricked mankind by filling it full of horrible things, but after it was opened, and all the horrible things were let loose upon the earth, one gift remained, the gift of hope. In the story, it is a real gift. And really, it is, isn't it? Otherwise, you may as well turn your face to the wall and give up. Maybe what sucks isn't hope, it's fear and despair, the soul-eaters?
