Thanks, Mr. Dog. I'm composing a letter to EP.

Mine is not really a "horror" story. But I am genuinely disappointed in my attempts to be a CPQ customer. I owe it to CPQ as a (self-serving) shareholder. First, the direct sales site didn't work, then the telephone trick was so unproductive. I'm especially angry that they called me on Jan. 4 to confirm my address because they were about to ship....

BTW, I found a (better than CPQ) deal on a PCZone for a Presario 1655. And they said I'd have it tomorrow, shipping from Ohio.

The sudden absence of CPQ notebooks -- I've checked the other direct sale sites -- could mean that they've over-solved the inventory problem. Makes one wonder if their rapid growth may be getting ahead of them. Uncontrolled growth has killed more companies than anything else (they tell you at Harvard Business School).

Well, it looks like I should apologise - I went online, and found that all but the 1800 series presario notebooks are in fact sold out. I then called the 800 number and got the same story, yep, there ain't no more notebooks.

If your horror story is really true, I'll gladly take up the cudgel in your behalf. At a minimum, if CPQ took your order they should either ship you what you ordered, or ship you the next better model at no additional charge.
