My requirements from a broker are pretty minimal: I require an online broker whose site will stay up during heavy market conditions, and who will give me confirmation on market orders within a few minutes. I don't mind paying a little more on commissions if I can get reliable service. I was hoping E*Trade or Schwab or Datek would meet these requirements.

I don't ask for perfection but having a site go down on every heavy market day like Waterhouse does or having fills that come back 30-40 minutes after one places a market order (with fills at the wrong end of the day's big move!) like Waterhouse does is too much. I was hoping people here knew of other better online brokerage firms that I could move to.

Thanks,

-Atin
