Tunica -- rate hikes are meant to draw funds away from stocks in several ways: first it makes fixed income investment more attractive and draws funds from the stock market, second, it costs more to do things so people have less money (as you said), and three, the hikes go along with reduced money supply by tightening credit and credit standards for the big players that really make the market rock and role. Internet investments (AMZN stock) are in the rock and roll business (stock speculation). Rate hikes say, 'turn down the music, it is bothering me.' No music, no party. No AMZN.
