Chris, There are bonds and there are bonds. I hate most taxable US bonds. Too many dollars around for American bonds to be a good investment. I am thinking deflation because of the overcapacity. And I think US corporate bonds will suck for the same reason. Treasuries will stink because of easy credit. However, bonds of some European countries may be a great investment. I am thinking specifically of Germany and Switzerland. And, though I am not buying them, I have to believe that top-rated/insured munis look good at nearly no spread vs. Treasuries. The long AAA munis/short Treasuries may be the spread of the year.
