brian,

Unless we were physically at gruns location any difference in our connection to Osicoms site would be meaningless. You can do your own trace to any site by pulling up a DOS window and typing the following

tracert www.osicom.com or tracert www.cnn.com

What you will see is the path your connection takes to the destination site and the time in milliseconds between each router, referred to as a hop. There are several places where bottle necks can occur, from your isp to the backbone that your isp is connected to, which will be one of about 6 major players. Keep in mind that some routers give a low priority to ping requests and you need to consider that when using this tool.

I'm not sure the GigaMux is geared towards solving backbone issues. Afterall it is billed as "metropolitan". So GTE would probably be interetsed in products like gagibit routers from Cisco or Cienna long haul DWDM to solve backbone issues.
