I remembered post 1069 from April of 98 in which Dowata shared key items he said were learned in a conversation with Ken. Dowata's message mentioned the company's expectation of competition within the next few years, so I thought it was appropriate to refer to it here. The following is an excerpt which includes other interesting items.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(From April of 98)

The plan for the future was described as a three stage operation.

Stage 1 was the conclusion of the Noranda deal. Although it brought in some revenue, Ken indicated that since Noranda owned all of the sites that it would not be a big money maker. Their cut in comparison to Noranda's would be small. However, it did bring them respect in the Canadian marketplace and a sound platform by which to prove their technology.

Stage 2 is the work in Kasastan(sp?). He was very excited about this operation as ESSI is heavily involved with the ownership of this project. Although no figures were quoted, he indicated that if this venture payed off, it would be a huge revenue boost to ESSI. I can't say that I know a whole lot about the project. He seemed very optomistic about the whole thing.

Stage 3 involves other opportunities with the government. You may recall from past news that they have had some involvement with NASA. He was not specific about what agency. However, he indicated that the technology allows for some "exciting break throughs" in the area of agriculture and pollution control. He indicated that there would be some very positive press releases this year in this area. These could be actual government contracts from the way he described the news. By scanning the ground with the probe, they can tell by the chemical composition what minerals and other compounds are being (or have been) depleted. I would think this would be very helpful to the Department of Agriculture and the EPA. This is my opinion as he did not mention any agencies specifically.

They seem to be working hard to get this technology going. ESSI realizes that the competition will be coming around within the next few years and they are busy trying to position themselves as the obvious leaders. I was very impressed with Ken. I think he is an very sincere and optomistic about the future. It was very apparrant the they are looking for the long run, not the quick buck. I am still in for the long run. As always, make sure you do your own DD before investing.
