The post you mentioned was my own. Okay, but Hal got it right too. IÕd have more trouble explaining it as clearly as he did. But maybe this will help a little bit. I certainly donÕt want to add to the general hype and confusion, particularly during this running of the bulls. I donÕt want to put any saltpeter in the punchball either. I love a good party! Nevertheless, I had finally taken the time to read some Ampex posts over on the Whacko Board, for my first time over there, and someone quoted Karen as saying, ÒItÕs going to be a good yearÓ. I was curious as to whether she said it at all, and if she had, did she actually mean it literally, or was it just a New YearÕs Salutation, like ÒHealth and HappinessÓ. I placed a call to her on the 4th at the Redwood Office. Her message machine said that she was taking calls, but that she was out of the office. I left my number. She called me back a few hours later, but from New Jersey, where she was still visiting relatives, although she had planned to be back in Redwood by then. Regardless, she also said that Bramson also was (and will remain) in NYC, so she was helping him out there. . (My wife pointed out that a lot of airports were snowed in, and that it was nice of the ÒbossÓ to let her have a few more days off. ) Indeed she confirmed that she hadnÕt and wouldnÕt tell anyone ÒItÕs going to be a good yearÓ. She advised me to show good judgment in reading through internet posts, because they can influence us more than they should. In fact, she herself asked Ed Bramson if he was posting on the Whacko board, even though she was pretty sure he wasnÕt. And in fact, he wasnÕt, and he wonÕt. First of all, she explained, itÕs illegal. It would give one group an edge over the rest of the shareholders. Ampex and Karen donÕt hype the company, itÕs products, or stock price. They take a very conservative approach in giving out news. And of course, as Karen said, they are not able to discuss many of their relationships with the government, for obvious reasons. I had lost some perspective because of the chat rooms, and I was just looking to be grounded in reality. I suggested that Ed might have casually dropped a few clues to a golfing buddy, and she responded ÒEd doesnÕt golf.Ó Personally, I think there is a growing need for the DST line, and I believe MicronetÕs fortunes will rise with MACÕs. Karen said, ÒWe certainly hope so.Ó Of course, IÕm paraphrasing from memory, these arenÕt direct quotes. You can phone Karen at Investor Relations at 650-367-4111. Here's hoping tommorrow's another good day for all of us. Good luck. Al
