a stock that acts like an option. Generally when I let my winners
run, I let them run until they stop going up, then when there is
nothing left to make them go higher, I sell.

Generally when they stop going higher (options, Yahoo), and there is nothing left to make them go higher, you are exiting the position and your wingtips are getting burned as you do it. But the key is you can't predict the total upside, so you let the market tell you, my entry point is 117 and this has been one helluva ride. If I exit while on fire and down 50 for the day, well so be it, held to the max, didn't leave any doubt about upside on the table. Some may not agree with this strategy, but it works really well for me.
