Robert, except back then, the bucket shops did not actually purchase the stocks, they held the money an made ledger purchases.... also, you did not have real-time quotes to get in and out of your position when you wanted to and at your price. Finally, you had no access to volume, bid/ask, latest tick, charts, moving averages and online or instant broker trading. Read the book for entertainment and to learn lessons of life, but don't compare buying stock in a bucket shop to what we have today. It's a brave new world.
