As expected, a sharp rise in tobacco prices related to the recent industry
settlement boosted the PPI. Cigarette prices soared 30.7%. If not for that, the
core PPI would have dropped 0.1%, the Labor Department said.

There is no inflation in this system -- dominated by falling tech product prices -- and semis f.i. are not even corrected for increased productivity. Real industrial prices are decreasing steadily The tobacco situation is obviously a politically induced change.
