Hi John,

My understanding\recollection is:

Are there other wells in the same formation? -- Not at this depth. This would be the deepest production in the entire San Joaquin Basin.

Is the well insured? -- The companies apparently carried well control insurance but as you know those policies have caps !! Getting this sucker under control and replacing it should be covered (IF not constrained by the cap!!).

Who is (was) the drilling company? -- I believe it was Nabors.

Were they drilling with a BOP?? -- Yes.

Were they drilling under-balance? -- No. Weighted up to just under 20 #, I think.

Who was running the MUD ( Haliburton, MI or ???) -- Not sure.

Speculation on reservoir damage? -- Huge water rates have been quoted. I personally believe water is coning from the Temblor formation but many believe it is entering through failed casing uphole.

Where there any drilling reports before the blowout? -- Don't understand the question, sorry.

Are there other wells in the same formation? -- Many, but none at this depth.

Any speculation on formation damage, if the lack of control has pulled up saltwater. -- I speculate no meaningful damage, just local to this well and it will never produce so it is a non-event.

Did they hit any other oil/gas zones above the their total depth to-date? -- This well is a whipstock from a vertical well that had encouraging "shows". This well had 7" liner run and cemented into top of the Temblor. But they had a bitch of a job with it and it took several squeezes over something like 50-55 days!!!! Want to bet on the bond ??

Were upper zones cemented off? -- They were behind pipe.

How far off TD were they? -- They had drilled 17' of new hole through the shoe of the liner when it blew on them.

Had there been any problems with the well before the blow out (gas pockets) -- Oh yes!!

Strongly suggest you go back in this thread to about November 23 and read forward. Also, read ELK RESOURCES Press Releases and visit and review the research reports on www.elandjennings.com

Good reading & good luck.
