Hello Engineer (or to anyone),
I am confused about CDMA in regard to FREE ROAMING, and whether towers are necessary similar to those existing with analog trans. Is it (or will it be) possible to transmit direct from a CDMA phone to a satelite without towers? I talked to a heavy user of a CDMA phone and he mentioned that although the cost of using the digital is only about 1/3 that of analog, there is still a problem with losing signal in some remote areas. To me, this sounds like towers (or lack of them).
If towers are necessary, are they much smaller and easier/cheaper/quicker to build than the old analog towers, or will the existing analog towers be converted over to CDMA / 3G, at some point? THANKS
EDWIN K.
