From SJ Mercury News:

AMD targets
portables

Advanced Micro Devices is
targeting the lucrative portable
market with its next processor
line, a family of processors built
around its AMD K6-2 chip
design. The Sunnyvale chip
company is introducing the
processor today and has scored
one coup already as Toshiba
Corp. -- the world's leading
manufacturer of portables -- has
signed on to use the chips in a
new family of notebook
computers that will appear first
in Japan. AMD's K6-2 mobile
processors line offers speeds
ranging from 266- to 333-MHz,
and will be priced between $107
and $299 when purchased in
volume quantities.
