Heh, heh, heh ... cool.

Even bogus bogeymen can frighten those who can't discern bogosity.

Waves within waves ... DSL, even G.lite, will have it's day in the sun before being replaced by something else. Even ATHM will have to come up with something beyond DOCSIS ... waves within waves.

>> SBC are making a major error that will cost them

It seems clear they are ... the DSL plant they build now appears doomed to collapse under the weight of the demand it must create.

I see SBC system managers hawking ADSL DSLAMs on the streets of LA in 18 months to make their rent. Never-the-less ...

One interesting indicator is the chorus of groans now being heard on the DSL reflector as PacBell raises DSL rates and lowers DSL service levels for existing customers ... even as even higher levels of service are promised at lower prices.

The squealing sound is the rubber actually beginning to encounter the road surface.

Still, the consensus is that the rollout pace for G.Lite
will be relatively slow, pending wider interoperability
testing and broad support at the consumer product
end of the market. Pacific Bell (www.pacbell.com), for
instance, won't be ready to announce its G.Lite plans
until next June, a spokeswoman for the telco says.
Perhaps the DSL move is only temporary due to the ease of installation and converting public ot speed.
I found this because i was trying to determine if a smaller modem was available the one in my sons room is huge. If a teenagers room is small there is going to be some thought involved as to where this will fit.
