Yes, all the times, even those south the border (I never shorted Brazil for mental reasons). I merely tend to buy big drops.

Sometimes it is pricey to short a stock which is hard to find. But the big houses or Paine Webber always have shares. Then you can buy a call against or box buying shares at a cheap online broker... And it is always necessary to do lots DD before shorting, ie how the float is and how "crowded" and whether a buyout/spinoff/PR blitz is possible.
And the babysitting is annoying in a market with lots of hot cash.

C.
