Some repute

CNN's Frank Sesno has some interesting standards of
journalism. Referring to reports of the much-rumored DNA tests on
13-year-old Danny Williams, whose mother had claimed --
falsely, it turned out -- that the child was fathered by
then-Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton, Mr. Sesno said Monday: "Why
do we have to tell that to our viewers? Because our viewers also
watch Jay Leno, who go on to the Internet, who read the
Drudge Report and other outlets out there. It was on the front
page of The Washington Times, an extraordinary article where
they said we're not even reporting it, but we've got to tell you
about this rumor that's out there. ... You know, when I worked for the AP, we didn't report rumors." But when the topic was pornographer Larry Flynt's reporting of accusations in Rep. Bob Barr's 1986 divorce, Mr. Sesno said: "Larry Flynt ... is, whether we like it or not, a publisher of some dimension, of some repute."
