Whitman Jr., announced today that it has acquired Bartow Communications of Rockville, Maryland. Bartow began operations in November of 1992 and had unaudited revenues of $408,000 in 1998. The company is profitable. Bartow Communications was acquired for $2,000 in cash and 410,000 common stock purchase options exercisable at .25 per share for five years from the acquisition date. Bartow has liabilities of approximately $200,000. Bartow Communications publishes ''The Register'' and is the only comprehensive directory of new home builders' inventory homes available in the greater Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.
